The company invests more than € 17,000 to recover heat from the oven and use it in a dryer, reducing energy consumption
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has just renewed to Tejas Verea the “I calculate and I reduce” seal for having reduced relative emissions by more than 3% in the last triennium, with respect to the results of the previous triennium.
During this period, in addition to the usual improvement actions, a technological study was carried out, with the collaboration of an engineering company specialized in the sector, to optimize the operation of kiln 2 at the factory. The modifications carried out as a result of this study, with an investment of more than 17,000 euros, allow to increase the recovery of heat from oven to dryer, thus reducing consumption.
Since 2016, Tejas Verea has been part of the Carbon Footprint Registry, an entity that collects the efforts of Spanish organizations in calculating and reducing greenhouse gas emissions generated by their activity.
Commitment to 13 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Obtaining this prestigious seal is part of the objective of Tejas Verea to reduce the environmental impact in all its production, commercialization and distribution processes and to fight against climate change and its effects (ODS13).
In recent years, Verea has developed various actions framed within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, such as the reduction of packaging plastics, electronic invoicing to reduce paper consumption (ODS12), or the promotion of the digitization of the construction sector (ODS17), collaborating in initiatives such as Habitissimo’s ‘Building in Digital’.
Gender equality (SDG5), control of quarry and underground water (SDG6) and the consumption of electrical energy from renewable sources (SDG7) are other areas of work.
The ceramic tile, a natural product
The tile, a product that comes from nature, is also a circular economy product, since at the end of its life cycle it can be 100% recycled. During the manufacturing process, it acquires durability and thermal insulation properties that make it the best option for roofs, improving the energy efficiency of homes by reducing energy consumption.
