SUSTAINABLE PRODUCT
The tiles are a 100% natural product, formed by the combination of earth, water, air and fire. We acquire our clays in a sustainable way, extracting only the material necessary for the manufacture of roof tiles, without generating any mining waste and guaranteeing the subsequent restoration of the environment and the creation of new habitats. The ceramic tile has a useful life of more than 50 years and, once it has fulfilled its useful life cycle on a roof, it can be reused and recycled for other uses, such as landscaping, tennis courts…
ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND CO2 EMISSIONS
In our ongoing commitment to the environment, we are taking action to reduce our energy consumption. In 2023, we installed a photovoltaic plant consisting of 1,800 panels and contracted electricity from 100% renewable sources from our suppliers.
This reduction in energy consumption goes hand in hand with the reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
WASTE AND PACKAGING MINIMIZATION
During the manufacturing process, any product rejects are reprocessed, so we do not generate ceramic waste at any stage. Waste such as cardboard, wood or plastic is separated, compacted and sent for recycling to give it a second life.
In addition, we collaborate with our suppliers to implement a Prevention and Ecodesign Plan for packaging, which allows us to recover 50% of wooden pallets or reuse 50% of plastic.
SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION
Since 2016, we have been committed to offering a comprehensive roofing construction solution through the approval of the Verea System, a dry ventilated roofing system that guarantees durability for 50 years.
ROOTS
Since its foundation, Tejas Verea has always been linked to Mesía, where the best clays for the manufacture of ceramic tiles are found. We grow in production lines, types of products, finishes and markets, but always from the heart of Galicia and backed by the seal Galicia Calidade.
EMPLOYMENT
We are committed to local and quality employment. More than 95% of the staff comes from the region where we are located. Although an equality plan was formally established in 2020, the presence of women in the production of our tiles dates back to more than 20 years ago.
Health and safety are key, so we analyze and implement measures to help employees and partners work more safely.
In addition, we rely on local suppliers to maximize support for the local economy. This also allows us to reduce logistics costs, have greater control over product quality and reduce environmental impact by reducing transportation distances.
EDUCATION
We collaborate with the Galician educational network by receiving school visits within the “Entéllate” program, to show the cultural, historical and social richness of the ceramic activity to the children of the region.
Likewise, we collaborate with the universities of Santiago and A Coruña, hosting internships and directing final degree and master’s degree projects.
COLLABORATORS
We participate with the association of people with disabilities and support for integration AMARAI in the project of solidarity tiles to promote inclusion. Committed to sports, we sponsor the soccer team of Boimorto, homeland of the Verea family. In addition, we open our doors to our neighbors so that they can learn about our production process and environmental commitment in our own facilities.
TECHNOLOGY
The automation and robotization of the industrial process has meant an enormous leap both in quality and in efficiency and effectiveness of the processes. In this way, rejects are reduced, consumption is optimized and workers’ safety is increased.
INTERNATIONALIZATION
In 2007 we began our journey in the American market, for which we adapted our processes for the manufacture of a new model of tile focused on export and which currently accounts for 50% of our turnover.
