Mesía and Boimorto schoolchildren highlight the natural properties of ceramic tiles on the World Environment Day - Imagen destacada

This morning Verea organized the awards ceremony for the first edition of the ‘EnTéllate’ school contest, organized to promote the value of natural resources such as clay and its sustainable management. Coinciding with the celebration of the World Environment Day, an awards ceremony was held at the school of Xanceda (Mesía) and Armando Cotarelo Valledor (Boimorto).

The award-winning work in the individual category of the contest was a drawing focused on the process of manufacturing tiles in Verea, made by the student Jesús García, from 6th grade of the school of Xanceda (Mesía). The drawing highlights the natural origin of the tiles and their ability to protect buildings.

On the other hand, in the collective category, the awards went to the classes of 5th and 6th grade of the CPI Armando Cotarelo Valledor from Boimorto, which reflected in a plasticine model and an explanatory video in ‘stop-motion’ the evolution of the process of Traditional tile making in a tradicional roof tile factory.

Luis Verea, general director of Tejas Verea, presented the awards, congratulated the winners for their work and thanked all participating centers for their contributions. In the first edition of the contest, proposals were received from schools of Frades, Ordes, Boimorto and Mesía focused on the sustainable manufacture of tiles, the evolution in their manufacture and proposals for ‘tiles of the future’.
